Halloween is over but it’s not quite Christmas, so what is going on? Here’s our list of what to do and see around Mountain Brook this month.

1. MBHS Homecoming Parade

Friday, Nov. 2 | 2:30 p.m.

See the Mountain Brook High School Band, Dorians and floats galore before the football team takes on Gardendale for the homecoming game at Spartan Stadium at 7 p.m.

2. Mountain Brook Chamber of Commerce Luncheon

Thursday, Nov. 8 | 11 a.m.
Birmingham Botanical Gardens

Join the chamber for lunch, networking, and thoughts from Matt Saurage, the fourth-generation owner of Community Coffee Company. The event is sponsored by The Jimmy Hale Mission. Get your tickets here.

3. Alabama Designer Craftsmen Annual Fine Crafts Show

Nov. 10-11 | Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Birmingham Botanical Gardens

Going 45 years strong, this annual event draws 50 artists from across the state who specialize in basketry, clay, fiber, glasswork, gourds, fine jewelry, metal, printmaking, stone and wood—plus a children’s craft classroom and on-site artist demonstrations. Find more info here.

4. Family Night: Arthur Atsma – Magic Show

Tuesday, Nov. 13 | 5:30 p.m.
Emmet O’Neal Library

Come out to see this sleight of hand artist and father of six perform “laughter magic therapy.” Plus find more library events here.

5. Holiday Open Houses

No need to worry about a 5:00 closing time on these nights. Plus, there will be extra merriment with festivities in the stores, so come knock out some shopping for special ones on your list and support local businesses. All open houses organized by the Mountain Brook Chamber of Commerce take place 5-8 p.m.

6. Tamale Sale

7. Miss Olympian Pageant

Saturday, Nov. 17 | 7 p.m.
Mountain Brook High School

Who will the winner of the 52nd annual pageant be? Come out to see the talent competition Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m., and then contestants will interview, do an opening number dance and do an evening walk on the final night, Nov. 17, before the winner is crowned. 8. Smith’s Play Day

Saturday, Nov. 17 | 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

It’s a tradition your kids won’t forget, so stop to try out all the toys this Crestline Village Staple has to offer.

9. Sam Lapidus Montclair Run

Thursday, Nov. 22 | 8:30 a.m.
Levite Jewish Community Center

Start off Turkey Day with the opposite action of stuffing your belly. This annual run celebrates the life of Sam Lapidus, his love of fitness and the LJCC and of family and friends. 10. Mountain Brook Art Association Holiday Show

Nov. 23-Dec. 23 | 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
The Summit, Former Pier One Space

Find some of your favorite local artists displaying their wares and find a one-of-a-kind gift for those impossible-to-buy-for people on your list. They’ll have  hand-painted ornaments, cards and books by artists along with art of all sizes and price points, painting demos, on-the-spot portraits and the Hand in Paw therapy animals.

11. Red Mountain Garden Club Greenery Sale

Wednesday, Nov. 28 | 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Holiday Parade

Sunday, Dec. 2 | 3 p.m.
Mountain Brook Village

Watch as floats, fire trucks, bands, choral groups, dancers and of course St. Nicholas himself parade down through Mountain Brook Village. Plus, you can stay afterward to catch photos with Santa too.
